Just a thought: Idea for a lighting system

One thing I would like in this game is a lighting system, however, probably not much like a lighting system in other games. Granted, what I have in mind is now mind blowing either. I want essentially a flashlight effect. So instead of having a light source or multiple light sources, I want the 'light' source to be the player. Hence flashlight effect. Everything within a certain distance will appear, with perhaps some distance testing and ratioing the pixel colors based on that. Farther away, the pixels are tinted darker to just black. As a player moves closer to a wall the pixels will become 'brighter' or more of the color and shade of the original texture.

While the game in mind is not necessarily a horror game, it will probably fit in with the overall idea of the game itself, which is not something I have expanded on to much in this dev log as I am still working out a lot of details. I expect to solidify a few more things and make another 'Just a thought' article with a rough idea of what I am going for.
